Cleveland Produces Top Newsers

Fox Biz Control RoomThe Cleveland Plain Dealer has produced an interesting article focusing on the number of current high profile television news presenters that spent at least some of their career in local TV news in the city.  Mark Dawidziak takes a closer look at the number of presenters who are now at Fox, either with the Fox Business Network or Fox News, along with other national cable and broadcast news outlets.

Dawidziak writes;

Somewhere in the Manhattan headquarters of the Fox Business Network, there's a corner proudly displaying great affection for Cleveland. That would be the office of Liz Claman, who started a three-year gig at WEWS Channel 5 in 1991.

"I'm looking at a Cleveland Indians hat and a Browns hat right now," Claman said during a telephone interview from that office. "I became the original fan during those years in Cleveland. I became incredibly loyal to the Browns, the Indians and the Cavs. Adam and I talk about that all the time."

Adam? That would be Adam Shapiro, another former Channel 5 anchor-reporter who found his way to Fox Business.

And if they want to share the Cleveland memories with yet another expatriate, Claman and Shapiro can take the elevator to the offices of sister cable channel Fox News. There, they will find Gretchen Carlson, an anchor and reporter at WOIO Channel 19 from late 1995 through 1998.
